A personal note from Bonnie: The Milking Shorthorn is maybe the most difficult but exciting cow to paint! Her varied color tones and markings make this dairy cow extremely interesting to paint and maybe was my biggest test of all the cow paintings I did for the book ONCE THERE WERE NO COWS. In the book, this is the last dairy breed that God created, and I thought it was fitting that it was a dusk scene - I really love the compelling setting of this piece.
